Amazon TV Chief Talks “The Boys” Future

“The Boys” is set to launch its “Gen V” spin-off shortly, recently had an animated shorts collection spin-off, and has a fourth season of its flagship series on the way – but what comes after that?

Speaking with EW, Amazon and MGM Studios TV chief Vernon Sanders says where the franchise goes next rests entirely on showrunner Eric Kripke and his long-term vision:

“I will say this: Eric [Kripke] has had a vision for what this all leads to for years now, and we’ve been in an ongoing conversation about what comes next.

So, it’s probably premature to talk about that beyond saying we believe in Eric, and if Eric is interested in continuing the story, we’ll be the first ones in line to really work with him on what that is.

The fourth season of “The Boys” wrapped shooting several weeks before the writer’s strike began, thus will be unaffected content-wise. When it will be released, however, is likely to be impacted by the actor’s strike as the streamer will want the cast to promote it.

All three previous seasons have generally aired 9-10 months after filming wraps which would suggest the series will be ready for airing either way from very early 2024.

“The Boys: Gen V” on the other hand premieres on September 29th and runs through November 3rd with Amazon set to promote that however it can in coming weeks. Sanders says:

Right now, we’re super focused on Gen V and an amazing season 4 of The Boys, which I think is going to blow fans away. I think Seth, Evan and Eric are genuinely interested in it. I think we’ve probably been the ones who’ve been wanting to be careful not to over-expose.

So, once we committed to Gen V, we really wanted that to be the next thing out. And once we have it out and get a chance to see how everyone’s reacting to it, we can start talking about, like I said, what comes next.

“Gen V” will reportedly feature cameos from several of the mainline show’s stars in this series about Vought’s college for Supes.
