Georgia fans mock Tennessee mercilessly for losing to South Carolina

Georgia Bulldogs fans poked fun at the Tennessee Volunteers after losing to the South Carolina Gamecocks and a spot in the College Football Playoff.

The Georgia Bulldogs had an SEC Championship Game berth all secured prior to Week 12 of the season. That happened after they defeated the Tennessee Volunteers back in Week 10. Despite that, the Volunteers still had a chance to make the College Football Playoff. All they needed to do was win out in what was a winnable schedule.

Volunteers fans may have said that they would be back to take on Georgia, but that’s officially off the table right now. Tennessee was completely decimated by the South Carolina Gamecocks by the score of 63-38. With that being their second loss of the season, a Playoff berth is out of the question.

Georgia fans gladly reminded them of that fact on Twitter.

Tennessee surrendered five touchdowns in the first half to South Carolina, four of which came from the arm of quarterback Spencer Rattler. Yet, they were still in it, trailing 35-24 entering halftime.

Then, the wheels fell off in the second half. In the third quarter, Antwane Wells Jr. extended South Carolina’s lead to 42-31 on a three-yard touchdown run. As if the loss wasn’t cliched for Tennessee before, three touchdowns by South Carolina pretty much secured it.

Tennessee did suffer a scare in the fourth quarter, as quarterback Hendon Hooker left with a left leg injury, and didn’t return.

Rattler had a tremendous game, completing 30 passes for 438 yards and six touchdowns on 37 throws.

Georgia fans took the time to bring Tennessee back to Earth, as their hopes of competing for the CFP national title officially ended. As for the Bulldogs, they play a Georgia Tech team that upset North Carolina in Week 13. Then, they face LSU in the SEC Championship Game.
